Zach and his Binky

Zachary has loved his binky for the past two years. I have also loved his binky, I even tried to get both Savannah and Kennedy to take one. A binky is a wonderful thing. It muffles so much noise that comes out of a childs mouth- at church, the store, the middle of the night, etc. Kris has wanted to take it away for over a year but I couldn't say goodbye to binky yet. Zach walks around the house saying"Binky where are you?" over and over until I help him find a binky. The last few weeks Zach started chewing on his binky and has now chewed holes in several binkies. After a few weeks of chewing on Binky we are down to only one- bright orange. Orange is not a color you should have near your face if you have strawberry blond hair! Kris was so excited that all the binkies were gone, but Zach and I both needed them for our Utah and Portland trips. So off to Walmart to buy a few more blue binkies and after vacation we will try to say goodbye to binky.

Harper

I can still remember my mom asking me to watch my brothers(we called them the three little boys). I would dread this task so much because my younger brother Kody was so wild. We always referred to him as DZ(Disaster Zone). He was always making a mess or destroying something. Last week I was watching his little boy Harper, who looks just like Kody, and I felt like we flashed back 20 years. I had just finished cleaning the pantry. I went to get the mop and I opened the door to find Harper in the pantry. He had opened a box of pectin and threw it everywhere. All I could do was laugh and take a picture because I knew my mom and older sister would both like to see the second generation DZ.

Kennedy's eyebrows

Kennedy had just climbed out of the bathtub and I asked her to wait in the bathroom for a minute so I could comb her hair. I got Zach dressed and was shocked when I walked in the bathroom to see the eyebrows Kennedy had drawn on her face. She kept saying "Don't I look beautiful". I really hope that when she is older she doesn't think those eyebrows look beautiful.

Halloween-Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Wendy

Halloween was a wild day this year. It is our first time to have two kids in school and I felt like we had parties the entire day. Our town had trick or treat on Tuesday night. We took the kids to the homes on our little street(5). They thought it was great and had no idea that other kids do more. Zach was really sick all evening and all day on Halloween. Like any good mom would do I gave him medicine an hour before trunk or treat, dressed him and left for the church. By the time we got to the church his fever was gone.We probably got the entire Primary sick but it was Halloween! Zach was a great Peter Pan and Kennedy loved being Tinkerbell(especially the sparkly shoes). We had a long talk about the shoes being a costume and that she can't wear them to school!!! Savannah was a perfect Wendy-beautiful and so sweet. I think she was the most comfortable in her soft flannel nightgown. We had a great time and hope all the other children don't get sick!!

Pumpkin Patch

Our family has had a crazy month of October, and before we knew it October 30th had arrived and we had not gone to the pumpkin patch. So Kris took the day off -we kept the kids home from school and went to Georgetown to the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patch we have gone to since we moved to Ky is a little over a hour away. On the way the thought occurred to me that maybe pumpkin patches close down the day before Halloween. Sure enough after a hour of Kennedy asking how much longer, we arrived and the pumpkin patch was closed. We started calling trying to find even a field with pumpkins in it. We decided to follow a sign to an apple orchard and found a place even better than our original plan. The slide they had was so huge, I didn't think the kids would slide on it. The first time was scary but then they could not climb the stairs fast enough. We found lots of pumpkins and some apple cider slushies-it was a perfect day!

Kennedy's fourth birthday

Kennedy turned four on the 22nd of October and I think we celebrated her birthday for the entire next week. She had a party on Sunday with her family and her friend Kaya. When I asked her what kind of cake she wanted she said chocolate cake with chocolate icing. A few days before her birthday she told me that she wanted spiders all over her cake so that it would be a scary cake. Kennedy always surprises me with her choices. Kris loved that she wanted a Halloween party with spider cake. She was shaking because she was so excited as she opened her gifts. I think that Christmas will be really fun with Kennedy this year. Kennedy got her first bike from us, but I think Zach was more excited about her bike and pink helmet.

Zach and five little pumpkins

Zachary has always loved the book Five Little Pumpkins. When he was one we had to read the book over and over. I made a five little pumpkins cake for his second birthday(in May). Finally it was the right season for pumpkins and Zachary has gone crazy over all the pumpkins. He repeats the five little pumpkins with all the actions everytime he sees a pumpkin. It has been really sweet to listen to him. I find him playing with our little pumpkins all the time. He is really starting to put together his own thoughts and not just repeat Kennedy and I just love watching him -even if I have to do five little pumpkins thirty times today!!

Nana and Papa Watson Visit Kentucky

Nana and Papa Watson spent a week with us in October and we had so much fun. We went to Keeneland, shopped, played in the leaves, and just enjoyed the beautiful fall weather. The kids loved getting to spend time with their Grandparents from Oregon. Savannah always seems to remember Nana, and was very sweet with her. Zach loved trying to drive Papa's scooter and was always trying to make it go faster. Kennedy showed off her sassy mouth for everyone, kept asking when Dane was coming, and got her birthday present from Nana and Papa. She was so excited to have Gabriella from High School Musical. The kids are excited to go to Portland in December to stay a week at Nana and Papa's house.
